The task of teaching our students about justice and global interconnectedness is unavoidably connected to the question of whether our own institutions of higher education (and our own classrooms themselves) are guilty of perpetuating injustice. The curriculum is a powerful thing, and we must not forget that it was originally founded upon exclusion, in the context of a violent system of domination over women, slaves, and indigenous peoples.
